A Home Golf Simulator and Some Great Tips Make An Excellent Swing
Golf is a sport that is unique in that almost anyone can enjoy it even if they’re not very athletic. It’s also a game that can be relaxing to play while still remaining competitive. When it comes to getting better at golf, it’s more about improving your form than anything else. Keeping that in mind, the following are a few golf tips that together with a home golf simulator, can help you improve your game.
- Learn to grip your club properly – The way you grip your golf club will have a big effect on how well you hit the ball. The most basic grip involves sliding your trailing hand’s pinkie finger between your lead hand’s middle finger and index finger. If you have smaller hands or you lack strength in your forearms or wrists, try using an interlocking grip by wrapping your trailing hand’s pinkie finger around your lead hand’s index finger. If you’re a beginner or you suffer from joint pain in your hands, use a ten-finger grip by locking your trailing hand’s pinkie finger against your lead hand’s index finger. Whatever gripping method you use, don’t hold it too tight but make sure that it is secure.
- Keep your spine straight – To get your form right, you need to spread your feet shoulder-width apart. Your knees should be slightly flexed and you should lean over your club by bending at the hips and not by bending your back. You should keep your back straight.
- Use your lower body to swing – One of the most common form mistakes in beginners is in the way they swing the club. This is because they will attempt to use their upper body strength to swing the club as hard as possible. Not only will your swing not be as clean, but by trying to generate power in your arms, your likely to swing the club back too far in your back swing, causing your form to break down. Instead, you should generate the power in your swing from your lower body first.
- Practice your rhythm – Rhythm is important in establishing a consistent shot. Use the counting method to establish a rhythm to your shot. Count using “one-one thousands.” Swing back on “one-one thousand,” and come down on “two-one thousand.” This will prevent you from lagging or hurrying your swing.
